This may not be a grout problem . I want you to run the shower and check the shower arm behind the wall plate and the toe tester(spout ) for water leaking behind the wall.If you dont find a leak than their could be a problem with the rubber membrane under your tiles.

Yellow Spots on Bathroom ceiling/walls after showers

You will have to paint over your new paint with a primer called BIN which will dry in about an hour. Then you can put your color coat on that. Problem solved.

Shower stall in master bath of a 15 yr old home. the shower started having water problems after about 1 year, leaking water onto the drywall next to the stall. we have tried everything-recalking, sealing the grout, checking plumbing to see if it was leaking. about 5 years ago, we took the whole shower down to the studs and started over-we retiled, grouted, sealed, and calked. water problems again with wetness on the drywall. we pulled out the calk to recalk again, the shower has not been used for 3 days, and water is still seeping out between the tile and shower pan. who should we call to fix this problem?

Did you use plastic pipe? What about the shower head? Does it have a rubber o-ring in it? Pull the pipe out of the wall at the shower head and peek inside for the o-ring. If it is there, just snug up the pipe, do not over tighten. We were ready with crow bars in hand to destroy a brand new shower we just finished, because we thought we had w broken pipe, Then the owner says he torqued up the shower head as tight as he could and I read where it had to be just finger tight. One more place to check is the faucet itself, take off the trim ring and look in there for drips. It could be filling up the wall cavity and stay wet for days. I would take apart the drywall on the other side before busting up the tile again. Check it out.

Sewage backs into the shower when the toilet is flushed

Since you are in a basement, your plumbing may run into an ejector pit, which is a heavy duty type of sump pump pit that can grind up toilet paper and shoot it up into a main drain pipe at a higher level. That may be why the upstairs doesn't affect your plumbing. Look around for a steel lid, about 20" diameter with two pipes coming out of it (usually 2 inches diameter). See if the circuit breaker is tripped. Sometimes, a light tap on the pipes near the lid can get the pump float to turn on if it gets stuck. Good luck.

Our pipes (seems mainly in the kitchen) rattle fiercly when the outside tap (which is right outside the window from the kitchen!) when the outside tap is turned more than 1/4 turn (approximately). It does seem to be just in the kitchen area. And if I open any other tap in the house (full or part) there is no rattling. It's just the outside tap... I suspected air in the system, but have gone through the whole house opening taps one at a time (making sure I run water out both the cold and hot). I started this in the basement and worked up to the second floor. I've also flushed all the toilets. I haven't done any plumbing in the past 4 or 5 months. A friend told me there have been problems like this caused by temperature control systems. The outside tap is the farthest outlet from the upstairs shower that has the temperature control. I have a Moen Model 3371 temperature control in my shower. This system was put in three years ago (June 2008) I don't know if there is any information on this system that might help adjust it, or trouble shoot a part that is needed? Another place I suspect may be a problem is at the outside tap. There is a small water leak at the outside tap. It doesn't seem all that serious and I've had leaks like that before without any problem. Over the past 4 months we've had a periodic small leak from the washing machine. It appears to be a seal at the shaft. We will be replacing the machine in the next few months.I would think if this was the cause it would affect other taps??

Hi.the only thing i can think of that would only affect one tap is a faulty non-return outside tap should have a non return valve fitted is a basic one-way valve. if it sticks, the valve may open suddenly, and then close rapidly as the pressure drops slightly in the plumbing. this sudden opening and closing, with the resulting rise and fall in water pressure in the pipes could well cause the pipes to rattle.the valve could be built into the tap, or into an isolator tap for the outside could also just be a 2" long (approx) fitting on the pipe leading to the outside.i do not think the shower or the other minor leaks would be the cause.i think you are correct in believing it would affect the other taps.hope this helps.please feel free toask if you need more advice.

Danze control valves producing loud water hammer

It sounds like your flow diverter isn't closing properly. Try removing the flow restrictors from the shower nozzle and see if that helps.
