Toilet tank looses water over time

As long as there is no water leaking from the tank to bowl connection, you are OK. You would know if it was leaking here, because you would have water dripping out onto the floor. Verify that the water level in your tank is below the top of your new flush valve's overflow tube. If the water level comes to the top, it will overflow into the toilet bowl. This can be easily fixed with an adjustment to the fill valve. If the water is not overflowing into this tube, then the only way you can lose water is through the flapper. You said you changed the flush valve, which would have come with a new flapper attached to it, but maybe buy a new flapper and see what happens???

Eljer 0220 toilet leaks from tank to bowl, then fill valve spurts out water from top and around the edges, and also through the tube that goes to the overflow. Replaced the flapper, but still leaks. Also cleaned the area under the flapper, tried different lengths of chain and bending the ball arm to adjust the water fill level. Nothing has worked. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hi,I have spent then past 13 years doing maintenance work and have seen this a lot. First the flapper could be warped even if new might try replacing.Second you will need to replace the the fill valve with new,I recomend Fluidmaster brand.

My toilet keeps leaking from tank to bowl--replaced all internal parts

Is the water closet (the tank where the water sits in) level? Front to back and side to side? Is the water level to high where the excess water is traveling down the tank overflow assembly? When you replace the parts, are there any mineral deposits (lime or calcium) or any other type of slime build-up on the water control diaphragm (flapper)? or on the flush valve seat that the flapper closes on? Do you have the chain that connects the trip lever to the flapper adjusted properly? Check the flapper alignment to the seat of the flush valve. Other things to look for, The small rubber fill tube leading from the valve to the overflow tube and sometimes the valve itself can act as a siphon. In that case, adjust the valve height or tube height up, or adjust the water level down. The water pressure at the small rubber fill tube leading to the overflow tube may be too high, preventing the flapper valve from seating. Turn the shutoff valve at the wall partially closed. Or simply wait and watch; remove the tank lid, flush the toilet, and see what's going on...or better yet, what's not happening. Have your water tested to see if there are any other contaminates that may be fouling up and deteriorating the internal parts of the toilet, like too much chlorine, magnesium, or iron. Either way, you should not be going through...or have to change the guts of your toilet as frequently as you describe; it's either a mechanical or design defect, tweaking adjustment, or an environmental one that is causing the parts in your toilet to deteriorate prematurely. Best regards

Toilet wont flush completely. it may take 4 times or more to flush solids. i at first thought this was related to heavy rains we had been receiving in the area over a period of about 4 months. 2 days after the heavy rains, the toilet would flush fine. now, it does not flush properly ever, again, 4 times or more to flush everything. i installed fluidmaster whole toilet repair kit recently, toilet still wont flush properly. while showering, the toilet will gurgle constantly as long as water is draining from the tub. shortly after all water has drained from tub, toilet stops gurgling, then, 30-60 seconds later gurgling sounds come from the tub drain, and continue 6-7 times about 60 seconds apart. i have checked the air vent from the roof, it is clear. i have pulled the toilet, the drain below the toilet is clear. this tub and toilet are the only two fixtures draining to the mainline pipe leaving the house leading to the back yard. house is approx. 40+ years old, i suspect it drains into septic tank but not sure about septic tank. it is not a municipal sewer system. what could be causing the toilet not to flush, and all the gurgling of the toilet and tub?

There is no air release. the vent must be clogged somewhere. you can take a hose up there and see if it drains all the way or floods over. since the tub drain has a trap and the toilet itself is a trap, there has to bee a good amount of air pressure coming up without a release. i would say an obstruction. possibly at the junction of the main and the vent.

Replace toilet tank bolts - Sterling 402315-0 White Windham Two-Piece Elongated Toilet 402315

Go to a plumbing supply house and get 2 or 3 bolts, 2 or 3 rubber sleeves for the bolts, and a new rubber gasket to go between the tank and toilet. Turn the supply water off, sorry, but, you don't know how many people don't do that. Disconnect the supply line from the tank. Flush the toilet, to remove water from the tank. Unbolt the tank. On the back underside of the toilet, you have 2 or 3 nuts to remove, depending on the toilet. Lift off the tank. Turn over the tank and set it on a towel. Now, gently tap down the bolts. Turn tank over and pull out the bolts. Turn tank back over and remove the tank and bolt gaskets, just push them in. Turn tank over. push in the new gaskets. Replace tank gasket, and gently tap down new bolts. Remount the tank. tighten the nuts, be careful, always tighten the nuts about the same. never tighten one all the way, and then another. YOU can crack the tank when tightening. Just nice and snug. Re hook the water supply, and turn on. Always check for leaks. If dripping, just tighten a little more. Just remember to tighten the all the nuts a little at a time. Keeping the tank level when tightening.

Tank keep emptying slowing

Check flapper seal and alignment, there must be leak-by there somewhere.Maybe a piece of debris at seal area. If chain or whatever is used to lift it when flushed, is not slack enough, that will also cause leak-by.
