I have Peerless single handle tub and shower faucet that is leaking water out of the shower head. It is approximately 10 years old. I don't know the model number. It looks like the pictures of a model 8761 or an 8771. I have had it appart 8 or 10 times and have replaced the little rubber cups?? and springs a couple of times and have smeared plumbers grease on everything with no improvement. So I am looking for a diagram or manual that shows the insides of these models to see if I really hve one and if so are there any other parts I might try to change. I see in one of the asssistance notes that replacing the whole unit will be a bear. I can see that. It seems like even replacing all the insides wouldn't be too bad. Do you have any help?

If it is leaking by the threads, thread seal tape needs to be put on,wrapping clockwise.Perhaps 2 or 3 layers, from the connecting end about 3/4 of the way up the threading.I realize you say you have a single handle tub and shower faucet,so I assume you mean just 1 head for all but I am covering every scenario since your specific model # is not listed=no definite picture. If it is leaking from the shower head,it could be either the plumbing valve or the shower head valve, most likely the plumbing valve because it should be stopping water from getting there at all,if you have made sure the water is off.You probably have made sure the water is completely off at least 50 times by now though. If there is a faucet head to fill the tub up and it also leaks,it is the plumbing valve. Also,if there is no faucet head,it is most likely the plumbing valve. Are you still with me?lol If the shower head just leaks a little then stops after a couple of minutes, that is pretty normal but since you are posting,it appears to be a new problem.Either way, these valves are mechanical. They have very tight tolerances to prevent water passage and even though they are metal they will eventually wear a little. They really are built well considering the wear and tear they endure compared to how long they last.If you have any questions or need more help, just comment here and I will get an autolink and reply ASAP.Good luck,Greg

I have a peerless tub diverter and I need to replace it because it leaks. Where can I find a replacement unit?

The kit to rebuild the peerless diverter is very common. take the cartridge to any hardware store and ask the plumbing clerk to assist you in getting the correct kit. good luck

We lost water flow to our bath tub faucet and associated shower head recently. I took off the shower head to confirm that the filter wasn't blocking flow there. We then had a plumbing company come out and take a look and they believed the issue to be with our Delta water mixer cartridge as there was a build up of sediment on the intakes and they could not clean it enough. I was able to track down a replacement cartridge but still nothing coming through. I then returned that in case the new cartridge was faulty. Still nothing. I turned the water back off, took out the cartridge completely and turned the water back on. Water comes gushing out of there into the bathtub so there is 100% no problem with water getting to the bathtub. If in theory the cartridge is working then after the handle is turned on it should then be pushing the water into the opening that goes into the copper pipe going to the faucet and shower head. These are new copper pipes which were put in within the last two years so it is impossible for there to be any kind of buildup on the pipe (sediment would not have been able to pass through Delta cartridge anyway). Water is not leaking as I can see the plumbing in the closet behind the tub. Drywall had been ripped out when plumbing work was done two years ago and not replaced. If the pressure was causing the water to get displaced anywhere else I would see it back there, but it is dry as a bone. Is it possible that all three cartridges (original plus two replacements) are all faulty? I have proven that water is getting to the point where the cartridge is installed but not getting beyond the cartridge. Is there something else I am missing? Installation of cartridge is cut and dry. It will only go in one way. I don't even have the whole assembly on while testing so I can leave the adjustment screw off and just using Vice-Grip to allow me to turn handle the whole way. Help !!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking that the cartridge may not be turning with the handle. After attempting to turn the faucet on a few times, see if the teeth on it are worn.

I have a Moen shower tub single handle from the

I took the parts to the Menards in town. Luckily I found the guy that knows it all! He showed me the rubber gasket( that holds the ball) to purchase as well as recommended that the 2 small rubber gaskets that were in there to be replaced as well while I had it open to avoid doing this in the future. I got home and replaced them and no leaks:) Thanks:)

Single knob for shower and tub wont stop running

I had the same problem, you need to shut off your valves and remove the handle that turns the water on and off. You need to turn the chrome front piece counter clockwise to remove it from the front of the unit. Pull the ball out and you should see 2 rubber o-rings with springs inside. My guess is that you have a bad o-ring that should be replaced. After you buy the kit from your local Home Depot, Lowes etc, you install the pieces the same way you removed them!

Leaking shower/tub faucet, looking for replacement cartridge. cartridge is stamped "MOEN with #96909. Tub faucet has pull up knob to divert water to the shower, valve is single handle. I replace it with a "Moen Posi temp cartridge" it corrected the leaking faucet but it would not allow the water to be diverted to the shower head. What cartridge is the correct replacement?

I have a delta tub shower faucet with a pull-out diverter. The model is "Delex" by Delta as stamped on the cover plates. I have not had any luck finding a replacement diverter. Neither Delta U.S nor Delta Canada represetives are familiar with this type. The faucet has two handles spaced 8" apart with the diverter in the middle. Also, it appears the diverter is frozen into the rough-in and nothing for a socket to "grab" onto so removal of the diverter has been a problem. Removal of the hot and cold valves went well and they were easily replaced by the Delta RP1740 valve assemblies. Any advice on identifying a replacement part for the pull-out diverter and how to remove the old one would be most welcome.

Take the details to a plumber supply shop ( where the tradies get their parts ) and discuss the problem with them it is very possible that there are other makes that will fit in the holes to replace the delta unit
