Cannot get handle off cold water faucet to get at cartridge

In some cases I have had to cut the handles off. But before we go that far, check for any allen type screws int the handle, If the is a screw through the top you can drill it out, since you are replacing the valve anyway.

We lost water flow to our bath tub faucet and associated shower head recently. I took off the shower head to confirm that the filter wasn't blocking flow there. We then had a plumbing company come out and take a look and they believed the issue to be with our Delta water mixer cartridge as there was a build up of sediment on the intakes and they could not clean it enough. I was able to track down a replacement cartridge but still nothing coming through. I then returned that in case the new cartridge was faulty. Still nothing. I turned the water back off, took out the cartridge completely and turned the water back on. Water comes gushing out of there into the bathtub so there is 100% no problem with water getting to the bathtub. If in theory the cartridge is working then after the handle is turned on it should then be pushing the water into the opening that goes into the copper pipe going to the faucet and shower head. These are new copper pipes which were put in within the last two years so it is impossible for there to be any kind of buildup on the pipe (sediment would not have been able to pass through Delta cartridge anyway). Water is not leaking as I can see the plumbing in the closet behind the tub. Drywall had been ripped out when plumbing work was done two years ago and not replaced. If the pressure was causing the water to get displaced anywhere else I would see it back there, but it is dry as a bone. Is it possible that all three cartridges (original plus two replacements) are all faulty? I have proven that water is getting to the point where the cartridge is installed but not getting beyond the cartridge. Is there something else I am missing? Installation of cartridge is cut and dry. It will only go in one way. I don't even have the whole assembly on while testing so I can leave the adjustment screw off and just using Vice-Grip to allow me to turn handle the whole way. Help !!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking that the cartridge may not be turning with the handle. After attempting to turn the faucet on a few times, see if the teeth on it are worn.

The bath shower faucet provides no hot water, we figure we need a new cartridge but cannot figure out how to get the handle off. Moen INS930B. How do we remove the little 'button' that covers up the scew? If there is a fee to answer this question please just ignore this question. We will just go to HD of Lowe's instead. We will likely have to go there to get a replacement part anyway. Thank you for your time.

Just take a drywall knife and place it btwn the handle and button and pry off...should nt be the turning type as moen doesnt make those..once you have the handle off make sure water supply to house if off..cartridge has cotter pin to remove but will still be hard to pull it out..use a bit of muscle as suction is created but it will come out after removing cotter pin

Delta single handle faucet. Hot or cold no in between.

Well they should be same size but unless you getting more of one then other then sound like mixing valve is not mixing. do have 3/4 hook up to mixing valve? you only need 1/2" to valve.

Brian just go to the hardware or plumbing store and get the little kit to rebuild the cartridge. If you are not quite sure take the cartridge with you and they will talk you through it.

I have a moen shower faucet. Previously I was getting only hot water or only cold water But when you quickly twist the knob a clunk type sound would come from inside the wall and then we were able to get warm water. the faucet was also leaking so I replace the cartridge and now I only have hot water. I have tried to take the cartridge out and fiddle around with it but it does not change. I suspect there maybe Some other type of valve that is stuck The faucet is old and we have a well system at home Can I take the guts of the other valves out and perhaps just bypassed the systems all together

It's hard to say without seeing it for myself, however, it seems to me that you have a Moen Shower Faucet with an anti-scald feature called positemp. You need locate the screw on the cartridge and loosen it, while adjusting the dial clockwise or counter-clockwise with your fingers and tighten the screw back up. Clockwise for warmer, counter for cooler. Also check to see that your cartridge was inserted properly.
