I have a DSC smoke detector model FSA-210BT at home for many years; now it starts beeping once a few minutes, as if it needs battery or servicing. I see there are 2 wires connected to the unit but no

Your smoke detector is probably wired to an alarm system. The beeping probably indicates that the drift compensation is out of calibration. This is usually due to dirt or power issues. The cut sheet from the manufacturer indicates that the drift compensation can be reset after the smoke chamber has been cleaned, but I have never been able to successfully do so in spite of following the instructions. If your alarm system is being monitored, it would probably be best to have the alarm company replace it. If you prefer to do it yourself, make sure you have your system placed on test with the monitoring center before disconnecting anything to prevent an unwanted visit from the fire dept. The connector on the back can be removed from the device without removing the wires...insert the original connector into the new smoke...be advised that the surge could cause the device to go into alarm, but it should reset at your keypad without a problem. Unless you are completely comfortable doing it yourself, I would recommend having it done by a pro.

Smoke detector removed from ceiling. Only wires visible, but I still hear chirping.

No! Do not cut wires they most likely have 110 volts of electricity in them. The black wire should be the hot wire the white is the neutral and the red connects to other alarms in your home so that when one detects a fire or smoke they all will start alerting "beeping" to alert you and your family of a potential fire in your house. The reason it most likely is chirping is it simply needs a fresh battery installed in it. Open battery door and pay attention how the 9 volt battery is installed and put a new one in the same way. I mention this because it is possible on some detectors to install the battery the wrong way. If you just simply don't want this detector which I don't recomend you should be able to unplug the detector from the connector on the detector itself. I would feel safer having ADTs detectors and your original detectors both.

We have just moved my girlfriends hot tub from her old home to her new place. I was intending to just put a plug on the wires and plug it into an external socket at my girlfrienSs new house. However when i came to do this there were 2 black wires and a green and yellow (earth). HOW DO I DO THIS

Depending on if the motor for the tub is 120v or 215/230v follow these instructions.... 120v - connect each black wire to it's own spade terminal and the green/yellow wire to the round ground tab on the new plug. 215/230v - follow the same procedure, but when complete, make sure that you are connecting to a 215/230v outlet, if it is a standard 120v outlet, you will most likely blow a fuse, or even worse the motor. There should be a name plate on the motor that will tell you if the motor is 115v or 215/230v. If the motor is 120v, you will have one "Line" wire, and the other is "Neutral" In A/C wiring it does not matter which is which due to the fact that the "Line" and "Neutral" alternate there current 60 times a second If the motor is 215/230v then both the black wires are considered "Line", meaning that they both are carrying current at all times. Hope this helps

Have a 1991 Jacuzzi 2 HP 220/110 pump. need wiring help

If you are running a 120 volt line then there is no way it could run 240. Did you wire it yourself? A 240 would have a hook up in the box for a red hot wire, a black hot wire, a white neutral, and a green or copper ground wire. A 120 would have a white neutral , a black hot, and a green or copper ground wire. It wired correctly, you may need to replace the capacitor. But be certain you have cut the power to the circuit off at the panel.
