We have just moved my girlfriends hot tub from her old home to her new place. I was intending to just put a plug on the wires and plug it into an external socket at my girlfrienSs new house. However when i came to do this there were 2 black wires and a green and yellow (earth). HOW DO I DO THIS
Depending on if the motor for the tub is 120v or 215/230v follow these instructions....
120v - connect each black wire to it's own spade terminal and the green/yellow wire to the round ground tab on the new plug.
215/230v - follow the same procedure, but when complete, make sure that you are connecting to a 215/230v outlet, if it is a standard 120v outlet, you will most likely blow a fuse, or even worse the motor.
There should be a name plate on the motor that will tell you if the motor is 115v or 215/230v.
If the motor is 120v, you will have one "Line" wire, and the other is "Neutral" In A/C wiring it does not matter which is which due to the fact that the "Line" and "Neutral" alternate there current 60 times a second
If the motor is 215/230v then both the black wires are considered "Line", meaning that they both are carrying current at all times.
Hope this helps Read More At : Home...
