Toilet fills up slowly

Hi. I have a Kohler toilet and it is filling up very slowly. It basically just drips out of the top assembly on the fill valve. However, if I turn off the valve to the toilet and then turn it back on again it will fill up quickly until I flush the toilet then it starts to fill up slowly again.

American Standard Elongated toilet bowl water level slowly drops

The tank holding the proper amount of water is a good sign. The inside of the stool is like the GOOSE NECK under you sink. It always holds water. This may sound like a bit of a hassle to do but if all 3 toilets are identical, here is what you can try if you are a bit handy. Go to the hardware store and purchase 4 toilet wax rings with a plastic flange and a few sets of toilet floor flange bolts(they are cheap and you can always return if not used, as It is better to have xtra parts on hand). Turn off the water supply to the "Mystery Toilet". Leave the tank and everything connected to the stool. Flush the toilet and remove all excess water from the tank and bowl. This can be done with a shop vac, sponge or towel. Disconnect the water supply to the tank. Remove the bolts holding the stool to the floor and carefully remove toilet. Scrap off all the old wax from the floor flange and bottom of stool. Now go and repeat this proceedure to one of the toilets that is working properly. In other words Switch the "Mystery Toilet" with a "Working Toilet" and see how they react. If the working toilet does it in the same bathroom and the "Mystery Toilet" does not do it in the other bathroom then you probably have a VENTING PROBLEM. If the "Mysery Toilet" Does it in the other bathroom then you most likely have a Defective Toilet. This Job is best done by 2 people, as it can sometimes be challenging to center the new wax ring on the toilet flange. Reconnect to the floor and reconnect water supply to the tanks. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN BOLTS to the floor flange as you may crack the toilet. All drain lines must be vented properly for water to flow. If you are curious check out drain venting on the internet. Also, sometimes a vent can become obstructed with debris, ice, bird nest, etc.. I would 1st check the vent on the roof visually and then have someone flush and listen. If you believe the vent is clear....Then do the toilet switch and go from there.....Hope this helps and Happy Holidays....Joe

Water continues to drip from fill tube after the fill.

Chances are the flapper is leaking. Thats causing the random refilling as the tank slowly loses water into the bowl. Replace the flapper with only the best available at your supply house. the cheap ones tend to leak even when new. The good ones are less than 8 bucks most places. If your fill valve has the float ball, there should be a screw right on top of the fill valve at the end of the rod holding the ball to adjust the water level. Closckwise lowers the level. Be carefull not to break the plastic ones. If the adjustment is all the way in or does not work, you will need to replace the fill valve. You could also try bending the metal rod holding the ball, but only as a last resort.

Water seems to keep running very slowly, can't hear it, after it apparently stops after a flush. Eventually reaching the over flow tube in the tank. I have replaced the Toilet fill valve twice, The first one was a Korky Quiet Fill and the second one was a Fill Pro #FV75 . Same problem with both. They seeem to work. The wter stops at a designated level, but eventually the water rises above water flow so very slowly you cannot hear the water running.

My dual flush toilet fills up slowly how do i fix

Lift the tank lid off, place it somewhere safe for a moment, and look at what happens: If you're talking about jiggling the handle to get the tank to start to fill with water, then it sounds like the chain or rope is out of adjustment. It can't be TOO TIGHT or the water will leak past your flapper (will cause your dripping noise, tank water level will leak down, causing constant refills), and it cant be TOO LOOSE or the toilet won't flush correctly. Since you didn't mention trouble flushing the toilet, I think that it may be a little too TIGHT. When you jiggle the flush lever-it is supposed to pull a chain or cable to open the flapper at the bottom of the tank. Flush the tank and watch what happens-all the way through to refilling the tank with water and shutting off the water refill valve-Does the flapper get stuck on the chain or something? It is supposed to fall back down to allow the tank to refill after flushing out your toilet. Does the chain look very loose? The dripping sound you described indicates that the flapper is not sealing 100%. The flapper is very easy to replace, you just have to get the adjustment set for when you flush the toilet how sensitive you need it. You amy have to play with it a little bit before you get the adjustment correct. Hope this helps!

My kohler persuade toilet won't fill up

Kenny, the gurgling sound is coming from a stoppage in the air vent located above the toilet on the roof. It has to be open to allow proper drawing of air to pull the contents from the toilet. You also have something lodged in the trap as the water goes out. If a snake doesn't clean it out, then you probably will need to take the toilet up and clean from the bottom side. You can a hose with a sprayer and bllast out from the bottom and most of the time that will free up the blockage.

I have a Jacuzzi Perfecta toilet (bought Aug. 21, 2008) at Lowe's. I have the sales ticket. The toilet works fine. The tank fills very slowly (2 minutes) before it shuts off. It also makes a whistling noise as it fills. I have the water level screw adjusted right. The water valve supplying the toilet is wide open. Can you send me a new fill valve - float assembly. Is this under warranty? If so I will send my mailing address.

Have you tried shutting water off and take top of valve appart and flush it out. It may have something in valve causing water to be restricted. It will have an arrow on it to direction to get it to come off. Take appart and clean rubber disc and you can put something over top of valve , a small cup or something to enable you to flush the tank. Have someone help you and hold the cup above the valve so that when you turn water on for a few bursts to flush out the valve it goes into tank. The actual stream that flows through valve is restricted down to almost 1/8 " opening so it wouldn't take mush to block the flow of water. The disc you take out you can replace it, if it seems to be damaged and not working correctly. That will affect the flow also.

There are cheep fill valves and ther better built fill valves, so make sure you buy aa quality fill valve. Screw gauge onto water fauct leave a little room for air to escape when water is drippng out tighten the hose bib on the gage turn on the faucet and read the pressure. Cistern water won't fill to line

Yes it could be. Bend the rod that holds the ball into the water. This should do it. As far as the fill line. It is not imperative that it fills to the line. In fact it uses more water to do so. This is going to save you water anyway. Adjust your chain that lifts the flapper a little shorter so that it lifts the flapper up higher. This will stop you from having to flush the handle several times. Let me know if this works.
