The hot water doesn't flow (it used to but we haven't used it in a while). hot water is fine in the sink, but when you spin the single handle it goes great power through the cold water range, but as it moves into the hot water side it is as if you are turning it off, until it goes to nothing. As if no hot water is coming through that line. Got ideas? Was wondering if a small stone could be lodged in the hot water side of the valve? If so, how do I disassemble!

Replace the cartridge

We just completed a new home with two 1085's. Both of them are have the same problem: no hot water. I did discover quite a bit of debris in the shower and sink aerators, which makes me think the hot water side of the valve is clogged with similar debris. I don't think it's a screen or aerator. Could it be at the point where the flex line (it's really small maybe 1/4") leaves the angle valve?

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.well the best thing todo is turn off the water under the sink and remove the top end of the hose, if you can. and turn on water to see if it comes do have cold water coming out so the stem is not clogged.I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response, thanks and good luck

One of my showers (witch is only 5 feet from the hot water heater) dosnt get hot and turns compleatly cold in less than 3 min, But the sink in the same bathroom gets really hot. The kitchen sink gets really hot as well as the upstairs shower and sink witch is locateded far from the HWH. The shower and bath faucet in question has a single nob that goes left for cold right for hot. Whats causing this and how do I go about fixing it?

Lets watch a video The hot and cold being reversed is an easy fix. When he took the handle off and exposed the cartage the small stem in the middle there are two flat spots on the stem with the screw hole in it just take some pliers and turn the stem 180% you don't have to turn the water off for this. DON'T TAKE THE KEEPER OUT FOR THIS! If cartage dosen't want to come out as mentioned in the video be ferm with it but don't get ruff. If the cartage was hard to get out it is a good idea to sand or clean the hole it came out of some very fine sand paper wraped around a pencel well do the trick. If you do sand use a squirt bottle and wash any debree out of the hole.

My Swanstone sink is sixteen years old and still in very good condition except for a small chip. The sink is a cream color with black and white specks. Is there any way to repair the sink?

You should be able to have a competent repair or restoration specialist from a reputable granite or marble fabrication shop come to your home and fix the problem. If it is a very small chip (less than an eighth of an inch around, my first try would be super glue. Keep in mind the fill will be fairly clear in color, which may match the dark specks, if not use an indelible marker after you smooth the glue to color it black. Use the gel type super glue if it is on a vertical portion of the sink, otherwise use a thinner variety. Clean the chip with sop and water, let it dry then use rubbing alcohol to remove any grease or oil residue. Use a masking type tape to isolate the chip so you have less work once the glue dries. Fill the chip and once the glue is dry, use a single edge razor (Use extreme caution, razors are by nature sharp) to gently scrape, not cut the glue flush to the sink surface. The manufacturers of these sinks claims they are difficult to scratch, but pay attention to your pressure or you might create scratches on the sink itself. Hold the blade perpendicular to the surface of the sink and take your time scraping the dried glue down changing to a fresh blade often. If the chip is in a radius area of the sink, you will have to be a bit more creative and probably use steel wool to remove the excess dried glue. I would start with #000 and see how that works, maybe using #00 to start the process and finish with #000 or #0000 steel wool to match the finish of your sink. If your chip is larger than an eighth of an inch around, I would recommend hiring a repair and restoration specialist from a competent granite fabrication shop to make a color matched epoxy to fill the blemish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, Brandon Wiese - [email protected] -

New house, after the black Blanco undermount sink was installed under the granite counter tops we noticed what appears to be a small surface scratched area on the side of the sink. The area is 3/4" x 1 1/2", white in color, the white goes away when you wet the area but when it's dry it turns white again. Almost like someone took sand paper to the surface. Is there some way to reduce/remove the white appearance getting back to the black finish. Thanks

No there is not unless you refinish the sink. there are refinish kits available at lowes.
