How do you tighten bolts on Kohler toilet seats the bolt has a plastic cap?

The caps are at the back of the toilet seat. Just under the cap cover are the bolts. You will need a meduim sized flat screw driver. Hold the nut on the bottom and use the screw driver to tighten. The covers pry up with a small screw driver IF they are square. If they are more circular with ears they rotate counter clockwise about 30 degrees, Then lift the lid off. We just remodeled out two bathrooms about 3 months ago. We bought the Jacuzzi Perfecta toilet for each bathroom. When we first installed them we noticed that when you sat on the seat it would slide off the base. We tightend the hardware as much as possible and it still continued to do the same thing. I went to Lowes (where we purchased the toilets) and bought metal screws and bolts for the toilet seat instead of the plastic ones that it came with. STILL is not working. My husband took the whole seat off and he believes the hinges on BOTH of the seats are what is causing the problem. I would like to contact the manufacturer to see if they would send me two new seats. I find this very strange that both toilets are having the same issue. It is very frustrating ecspecially since these are brand new. Please help -

You need to use lock nut bolt and screws so it doesnt looseing by its self.

This toilet is enclosed on the sides. The seat is very loose but it is not like older toilets with the screws and bolts underneath to tighten and no flipping the toilet seat caps up to tighten. Please tell us how to tighten.

Google make, model, manual or go to a place that sells that make model style and ask them

I have a Kohler 1.6 gallon toilet that was in my house when I bought it. no make or model but it's short and oblongated. When I went to change the toilet seat there is no bottom hole for a bottom fastener looks as if the 2 top holes just go into the ceramic toilet. The old seat was just basically sitting on the toilet not tightened. Is there a special seat I need or some sort of special hardware. Most seats have a bolt and nut, not this one.

Never heard of such a thing. You'd better contact Kohler on this one, bro. . .

Toilet seat is loose! This is a quick release toilet seat with buttons on the sides. Once the seat has been removed I would like to tighten the plastic bolts but have been unsuccessful. Is there a special tool for this?

Hi, Yourtoilet seat is typically linked to the toilet with two plastic bolts and twonuts below. In the front of the cover, take a small screw driver and find alittle notch made to allow you to pry up the cover. Pry both of them up. Centerthe toilet seat on the toilet. Look closely at the plastic bolt head and decidewhich screw driver would fit. Use a large screw driver, otherwise the bolt willnot turn or it will slip. Turn the screw driver clockwise as pictured fromabove. There usually is a nut with a wing attached to prevent the nut from turning,so it should tighten. If the bolt keeps turning without tightening up, placethe small pair of pliers underneath, where you feel the nut and lock onto theend. Once you have turned the bolt several times, the wing on the nut willprevent it from turning anymore so keep screwing until it is tight. Push downthe covers and they should click closed. If you need some tools, then youcan shop it from http://www.amazon.com/Ginsey-85243-Toilet-Seat-Tightening/dp/B000CD1BOY.Hope this will help you.

Now isn't that a trick. Epoxy! The bolts, now studs, must be quite short. Well, glad you got it resolveve. I hope your house has more than one restroom..That epoxy will need a day or two toset up properly. :) Thank you for the reply. We all learn from each other.
