Toilet tank fill valve sprays water towards lid

My kohler fill valve in tank sprays water towards the tank lid. This only started after I had turned off the water supply line for a day while making a different repair. I assume I have to replace the valve, but would this all of a sudden happen?

Toilet tank fill valve sprays water towards lid

Hi bpmorr1, It may be that the fill tube has come disconnected . It runs from the top of the fill valve to the overflow. The overflow is the tube that runs up the middle of the tank. The fill tube runs from the top of the fill valve to the top of the overflow tube. Kohler has a little clip that can sometimes come undone and cause spraying. If that doesn't do it, turn the water off to the toilet and take off the tank lid. Partially open valve ( Slowly). Locate where spray is coming from. If it is in the area on top of the fill valve then yes, buy anew one. ( Fluidmaster ) Please rate this response and good luck, Phil

I have a Kohler Highline toilet that sputters

Did you try to lubricate with something waterproof to stop the squeak? How about grease? Petroleum jelly, something. Or how about a weight on the high side to balance it out as it goes up. A lead sinker or a penny. Hope this helps.

Water squirts from tank while filling - Kohler K-3386-0 Rialto one-piece round-front toilet with seat and left-hand

Take lid off and check that the fill tube is in place. If so flush with lid off to see were the water is squirting from, be prepared to clean up water...If you can, do a slight flush. If there is water coming from any where but the bottom of fill valve and the fill tube you may need to replace the fill valve. In my experience, the fill tube is dissconected. Toiliet Drips in bowl for a while after you flush

Check flapper out and adjust water level in tank to proper level. If you get level right and it still does drip it sounds like the flapper is not sealing correctly to shut off water. Toilet flappers are not to expensive and you can touch it with your hand and if you get a black residue off on your hands that a sign it needs replacing.

I just installed a Kholer Rialto toilet and the water doesn't shut off, it keeps running even though the tank fills with water.

My toilet is running, how do I fix it? To solve this problem, you'll want to ask the following questions: Is water running into the overflow tube? If so, lower/adjust the float valve. By doing this it will float higher closing the inlet valve. Is the chain too slack or too tight? Make sure the chain has only 1-2 beads of slack. Has the water in the home or surrounding area been recently shut off for some reason? This could cause debris to come up through the water pipes and settle into the diaphragm seal of the fill valve. Flush out the diaphragm seal. This is not an unusal problem; here is a video that may provide more assistance:
