Is this in the basement and if yes then you have a brake in the pipe some where because you say that your snake is stopped by cement.

American Standard Sink Drain

I would recommend getting and installing a better quality basket strainer that has a thicker "lip". Also, you need a good amount of plumbers putty underneath the lip of the basket strainer as well. Try not to use silicone to seal under it, it doesn't stand up to use. I would purchase a solid brass strainer rather than the thin stainless ones. They are more expensive, but are worth the money.

How do I remove the bathtub drain/stopper? The tub won't drain so I'd like to remove the stopper to clean it. I have the top part off but can't get the bottom part of the drain to budge. Help?

Does the tub have a lever to stop the drain below the spigot ?

I have an American Standard (right height) beig in color. Bowl has a large brown stain near the bottom.

Probably a mineral buildup. Pour a bucket of water into the bowl so that the bowl flushes but does not refill with water. In other words you want as little water in the bowl as possible so it wont dilute the cleaner. Use an acid cleaner like lime away in the bowl. Let it set for several hours or over night,. then scrub with toilet brush. Lime away is fairly safe but try not to splash it on your clothes or yourself. Wash it away if you do. You may have to repeat to finish the job.

My American Standard whirlpool pump will only hum.

The bearings (or bushings) of the pump or pump motor have siezed, these can be replaced on some models but for the most part you will need to replace the pump and/or pump motor. and as where to get parts, i would suggest the outlet from wich you purchased the unit or another appliance outlet. Or if you feel up to the challenge, im sure you could find replacement parts on the internet: google, ebay, etc.

I have an American Standard Model 2775018W020 Corner tub mfg date of 2/22/2005 serial # 2123875. I am getting water in my basement when the water level reaches the highest jets on the tub. The jets seem to work so I don't think it is a connection. It leaks without the jets on so it is leaking either through or around the jet or jets.It is all tiled in of course so I can't get to the pipes easily. I took the jets nozzle out and the O-rings appear fine, could it be leaking around the trin ring and if so do they come off?

This may be a silly question but, have you tried to, as much of a pain in the **** as it is, tried to look through your, hopefully accsessable acsess panel to see if you can see the leak. I understand that it could be getting out around jets but, there are so darn many places it could be leaking. If you have inspected the jets and they seem to be sound and flush, I'd look elsewhere, for instance, how often, if ever, does the water get to the overfow? They can leak around their seal and sometimes will not be tightly seated. A question I have for you is, do you have drywall or something on the ceiling in your basement and, if so will you be taking it down because of leak. If you have planked floors, you may be able to get an idea, not guaranteed, of exactly where it is leaking which, could let you know which side of the tub the leak is on, hopefully, the one you can see. If it's not on the side you can see, and is a planked floor, you may be able to cut you a little access hole in the ceiling of basement, floor under tub. to see. This may or may not work depending on how the tub was framed and installed but, you would obviosly know where the drain is and could use taht for reference. Anyway, the rings of the jet will come out but, I would give them a good inspection and, if they look sound, it could be something else. How bad of a leak is it and, how long does it take for the leak to show up in the basement?

I have an american standard toilet which is flushing slowly. i have it off and drained and am trying to get a roto rooter to pass thru it. i cannot get this spring thru the toilet either from the bottom up or from the inside bowl down. i am suspecting there is something stuck inside the toilet but am not sure. Can someone send me a picture or help me out pls. Thx gary

If you have that thing off, take it outside and put it up on saw horses, fill the back with water and flush it, see if it is still slow. Then get your kid to reach up there and get his toys out if it doesn't flush. You might have to do it a couple times. Then if it does flush, you know it is clogged down the line or something is blocking the vent. Got squirrels? Check it out.
