Water Temperature I have a Mira mixer shower & the temperature has started to fluctuate. It is probably the mixer valve at fault but can I fix this myself, do I need any special tools or am I better getting somebody in to do it?

Yes this one for the pro's call the company this is not something a most repair plumbers like to do...we would call the company they should know whats going on. If I was on the job thats what I would have to do, and then I would have them ship the parts to me. How old is it?

Mira Sport shower running luke warm

Your hot water must come from your coil in boiler and not from a seperate hot water heater - more then likely furnace hasn't been on for heating your house nor has it been on for any draw of hot water. You have to wait till it goes on and brings the water temperature up to your setting or get a hot water tank put in or a new type wall mounted gas instant hot water unit.

I have a plumbing problem with my upstairs toilet. My home is 30 years old. there is a hex shaped nut just above the shut off valve and water is leaking from that connection. I tried to tighten it, but made the leak worse. If I loosened it a little it was better. I want to be able to fix this myself. Can the valve and pipe to the toilet be replaced? Is there a temporary fix I can use to stop the leak. I don't wantt o call a plumber for something I think I can fix. I am a handy "gal" so, your descriptive answer would be appreciated.....Thanks.

If the tight action made more damage than means that the gasket is gone ..and it needs to be open and changed..but if the leak is not that bad you can use a poxilin adhesive ....or better a silicon tube to seal it off..but first you have to shut down the water and work on a dry surface..The first adhesive I mentioned is something currently used for metal and plastic..and it is actually composed by 2 separate tubes that have to be mixed at the spot and after that react and became a malleable material just like the plasticine or a wax..and it is very easy to use for temporary sealing ..The second is a silicon used by the plumbers to seal the bath tubs and such ..and it has the advantage of being colorless You can find any of these products in the hardware store or even super-markets..In your place I will go to repair the gasket ...close the water from the main tap...and unscrew the stuff and see what kinda gasket it needs..Replace it ..and after that seal it with silicon or so ...

How do I regulate the temperature?

Hey Hazel. I am too looking for the instruction manual for the same type valve. In another situation.. I installed a valve with a temp control and a water on and off knob like yours. I messed with this darned temp valve for days .. taking the temp cartraige out of the valve body ( you might have to shut off the main water source to do this.)Other wise there coudld be shut off screws on the left and right of the valve body after you take off the cover plate as well as the handles... in the wall. In my case, I ended up removing the exisiting temp. cartrage and replacing it with a new one that had to be orederd. The manual mentions that there is a possibility of some debris that can get inside the valve body while you are installing it. Their solution is to remove the temp. control cartraige and check and or clean it out of any foriegn matter. Since I too am without an instruction manual , I am working on adjusting the temp of an exisiting unit that is too hot. However in my case it is hot to very hot !!!!! I guess I can just turn down the temp on the water heater. good luck .. hope you have some luck with this issue ! ed odonnell

I have an Aquariss shower mixer that runs cold when fully on

A washer or o-ring inside the cartridge may have dislodged and caused this ---turn off water to valve or whole house if necessary, and remove shower valve cartridge and inspect---all o-rings/washers should be in place and somewhat greasy(lubricated)....note which way it was when you removed it, as its replacing must be done the same way
