MY JACUZZI HOT TUB STOPPED HEATING

IT'S AN OLDER MODEL WITH NO DIGITAL DISPLAY ON THE CONTROL PANEL. IT HAS A RHEOSTAT TYPE DIAL CONTROL WHICH LIGHTS UP WHEN THE HEATING ELEMENT IS ON AND A SINGLE BUTTON (MEMBRANE TYPE LIKE A MICROWAVE) WHICH CYCLES THROUGH PUMP,JETS W/LIGHT, JETS W/O LIGHT AND OFF. I USED IT ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND TODAY I WENT TO CHECK THE CHEMICALS AND THE WATER IS COLD. IT'S 15 DEGREES TODAY SO I DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME BEFORE STUFF STARTS FREEZING (IF IT HASN'T ALREADY) THERE IS NO ICE IN THE TUB YET.

Jacuzzi J-340 hot tub, it works fine for a while and then it stops heating. If I shut off power for a few seconds, it still does not heat. If I shut off power for 30 minutes, it usually starts heating again. The temperature readout on the tub reads 10 degrees lower than our thermometer in the tub. Does this sound like the thermal sensor is bad?

You need to replace the temperature sensor. As per the problem mentioned,it indicates towards faulty temperature sensor:---The temp sensor found in the filter compartment.--------- There is a 2 foot flexable tube that the wire runs through from the sensor which just ends inside the cabinet. The wire for the sensor should be in a flex pipe. The flex pipe just connects up to the back of the temp sensor. You should be able to pull that flex pipe back, it may be held on only by the foam insulation and not glued to the sensor nut. Once you pull back the flex you should expose the back side of the sensor. There will be a nut holding the sensor to the wall of the spa. The front of the sensor will either be located in the filter bucket or in the foot-well area on the side of the wall. ------------ This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Tub heater kicking out

Sounds like a part is bad on the control pack. Whatever gets 'jiggled' when you slam the door down is most likely the bad part.

Sounds like it maybe the heater again. Have you pulled it out and checked the ohms? it should be at least 10.5 ohmsit could be the thermostat or the pressure switch - if either of those are not working it will not heat either.

Water not heating

It sounds like your inline heater has stopped working. The only way to test it is to drain the water back out, remove the inline heater, and hook power to it to see if it heats up. If it doesn't you can get one at a discount supply house (like Home Depot or Lowes) for less than $150.

Jacuzzi not so cuzzi. Could it be just the heater?

There are usually two breakers for a hot tub. One sends power to the heater and another sends power to the big pump. Be sure both breakers are turned all the way too off and then turn them to on. Next look for a reset button on inside of the jacuzzi which may have to be reset. good luck

Jacuzzi Hot Water Heating Capacity

Depending on how you heat the hot water, whether gas or electric, is a missing detail in your problem, but if it is electric then your problem is the size, being only 40 gal, and needing probably about that to fill the tub, will always lead to your current position. If the hot water heater is gas, the chances of it keeping up are slightly better, but again things like the temperature of the water leaving the tank, any mixing valves, etc. will effect the water temp at your tub.  Before raising any temps, make sure you follow local code, as not to scald yourself or others.
