My Kohler Cimmarron one-piece (new - installed for only one day) suddenly won't stop filling the tank. I checked for dirt or obstruction under flap and raised the valve ball all the way up manually -- still won't stop running. Help!

It keeps running, but it always stops when you lift the float ball. Sometimes it stops and after a little while, it starts making a hissing sound which is barely audible don't really think it's that much of a problem, but everything I've read mentions the overflow tube and the refill tube, and I don't have either. I have a 1B1X conversion kit and its got a top assembly with three screws and the one closest to the front seems to drip or stream water from underneath. It also has two screws on top of the float arm instead of just one and a plastic thumbscrew on the side of the tube, just below the top assembly. I've adjusted all the screws both ways several times, (except the one that holds the float assembly to the body of the plunger assembly) I think that if someone could just tell me what each screw adjusts, and how the parts should work together, I can fix it. I'm pretty sure the flush valve is okay and it's the fill valve, but I may have made it worse. When it makes that hissng sound, is it wasting water? I hope I have explained it for ya'll to understand and I hope somebody can help!! Thanks

Hi, The easiest way to fix that then is to grasp the flaot arm firmly with two hands and bend the rod so the ball goes further odwn into the tank....this will place more pressure up on the arm sooner... If it still does not stop then you will have to replace the fill vavle assembly... heatman101

Eljer Windsor One Piece Toilet help - leaks water into bowl

I would go back with the ballcock kind. However, the flapper will need to be replaced. It is not seating properly. The fluid master is a revised version and a bit more efficient. It should work well also. They both work off buoyancy and shuts off water the same way.

I recently had a new Moen Posi Temp shower valve installed. I'm having an intermittent problem now. At various faucet handle positions, the valve will start sputtering and vibrating. The only way to stop it is to move the handle to another position to change the temperature and then move it back to the original position. - I opened up the shower wall from behind and strapped all the pipes down securely and the problem still exists. With the valve exposed I heard a harsh ticking sound in the valve as the water was sputtering. Can someone please help me? It would be much appreciated.

This problem is in the head of the valve itself. These faucets are complex systems and I have seen many improperly installed. When you pull the cover off (it has an O-ring to create enough friction to keep it in place) you will see a ring with teeth and possibly molded to fit inside the cavity in one of two or four positions. Additionally there are two tiny cups that go behind the head of the shower valve to prevent sputtering . The water must be turned off and lines opened before this is even opened. It sounds to me like one of those little plastic cups is misaligned, possibly leaving just enough space for water under pressure to escape past the wall of the cup, which creates the "sputtering". Only professionals should attempt to install these, and I have even come behind pros that did not understand how they had to be installed. My recommendation is to call back the installer, have him pull it all out, replace that damaged cup and put it back together. You should watch him do it, so that you see what was wrong in the installation. Properly installed there is no way this kind of thing happens. Dan

Sometimes check the faucet screws they come loose or if they are old you might want to replace the whole diverter, take them to lowes or home depot and have them guys in the plumbing department hook you up. trust me you are opening a can of worms with rubber valve seats just get new ones. Make sure before pulling you cut off water supply to them.
