The valve is installed upside down and needs to be reversed. There is a diverter in the valve that gives the spout priority. When the valve is upside down it gives the shower head priority. Thats why it runs without the diverter being activated. You will need to get in the wall from one side or the other. Cut the valve out and either flip the faucet Or change the direction of the diverter depending on the style of valve. Good Luck, Phil

Help! When I pull out the control stem on the tub spout to send water through the shower head most of the water continues to flow out through the tub spout. Is there something that I can replace or repair or does the whole assembly need to be replaced. Most importantly, how do I do it? I am not a plumber. Thanks

You can replace the assembly and not have to worry about taking apart the stem or, you can get a replacement diverter. The spout will twist off turning counterclockwise.

Price Pfister Shower--No water to shower

Does the tub spout water flow stop when the shower knob is pulled? Was the systems pipping flushed before the shower head was installed? It may be clogged, remove the shower head and then attempt to operate. If it is clogged you will see debris trapped in the screen at its connection point. The shower head can be disassembled - cleaned - reassembled Is the shower head an adjustable type, that may be in the off position?Good luckAduz

When the shower valve is engaged I still get water out of the tub spout and limited water out of the shower head. I just replaced the cartridge thinking that might be the problem but no luck

It sound's like you need to replace the tub spout.there should be a set screw on the bottom of spout loosen and twist off. replace with moen spout for ease of re-install.it's a real pain in the *** to try and replace -o- ring spout.

Shower spout My Price Pfister pull handle on the shower spout to change the water discharging from the spout to the shower came out and I do not know how to fix it. I found a small white plastic with a rubber washer on it. I like to know how to put it back together or am I missing a part.

There is a threaded stem that passes through the spout and attaches to the white plastic diveter valve. If you are starting from scratch (everything apart), you can put it back together in this order: 1) Place the white plastic diverter inside the spout. the circular side with the black round washer should face the the wall side of the shower (mating up against the threads for the water pipe). 2) The stem can now be inserted from the top and into the notched section of the white plastic diverter valve. The threaded end of the stem shoud be outside of the spout (from the top side). 3) A round black washer fits over the threads. It should sit right where the threads end. Dont push it all the way on to the unthreaded portion of the stem. 4) Screw the threaded knob onto the threads. Should be ready to install now. Including the spout itself, there are 5 parts and are configured in this order from top to bottom. 1) Female threaded knob (the knob for operating the spout) 2) Threaded stem (threads on top) 3) Round black washer 4) Spout 5) Whit plastic diverter valve. Mine leaks when I turn on the shower, thus reducing shower pressure. I looks like a poor design to me. The stem is not a tight fit in the spout and this allows the diverter to "wobble". The washer on the diverter valve does not seat tightly and allows water to leak out the tub spout when showering. I would replace the spout.

The shower tap is broken. The top came off of the

It may be very simple--you have to get your head underneath the tub spout and look to see if there is a "set screw" on it---if there is ,you unscrew it, which releases the screw holding the spout in place on the pipe coming out of the wall---jimmy it a bit and the spout will come off---don't yank too hard---if there is no set screw, then all you do is turn the whole tub-spout counterclockwise carefully, and unthread it from the pipe in the wall..replace w/ a new tub-spout--anywhere from $5 to $500

Why is there Rust from tub spout and shower head

When you turn off faucets other than your tub or shower you will note that the water stops fairly abruptly. Not so with a shower head or tub spout. Some water always dribbles out even after you have turned it off. This small amount of water then evaporates leaving behind the iron that was dissolved in your water. This also happens if any faucet has a slow drip. There are products that will easily remove the rust stains. CLR, Iron Out, or Iron Ike are all good products that will remove the stain. Available at hardware stores, plumbing supply houses, and, ugh, Home Depot or Lowes. Please support your local business owners by purchasing there.
