Shower temperature too hot

Have shower that switches from overhead to hand held. Has worked perfectly for over 1 yr. Lately the water is much too hot and can't adjust. The other shower, faucets, etc are not having this problem. Is there some sort of routine maintenance?

Shower temperature too hot

Shower valves that have anti-scald features are renowned for this problem. Usually it is caused by not being used regularly. It can be repaired usually without replacing the valve, but you will have to dissemble it, clean, and use some plumbers grease to reassemble it. It should work fine after this. If it still does not work you will need to replace the cartridge.

When turning on the hot water on dedicated hot water faucets, the water is almost scalding. However, when turning on the shower and tub that has only one faucet handle (mixes cold and hot) and put the handle to the hottest temperature, the water is only luke warm. How can we modify to get more hot water?

Pull apart the front of the valve and there is a limiter that is set to limit hte hot water, you need to adjust that limiter. I find many valves are shipped with teh setting too cold.

We recently installed a Moen single handle faucet in a refinished shower after having a plumber replumb the front of our house. Handle appears to be properly installed. Now there is no hot water or even water flow at all when we turn the handle to hot. The cold water in the shower flows just fine. There's a sink in the bathroom as well which has hot water. What is most likely the cause when there is no flow of water at all when a single handle faucet is turned all the way to hot? Hope this makes sense.

I have had this happen a few times and when all else failed I just replaced the cartridges and this solved the problems. However these were not posi-temp or pressure balence valves. Hope this helps you. Thanks

Delta single handle faucet. Hot or cold no in between.

Well they should be same size but unless you getting more of one then other then sound like mixing valve is not mixing. do have 3/4 hook up to mixing valve? you only need 1/2" to valve.

I have Danze, single handle shower faucets that were professionally installed in 2005. One shower faucet has not hot water, just cold and when the handle is turned on all the way to hot, there is an itty ***** trickle of hot water. Plumber says we have to cut into the wall and replace the valve. Any idea if there is another way to fix this?

Replace valve canister- no construction- just remove after taking time to shut off water- a few screws and the job takes 15 minutes. I take for granted you have good water hot/cold to the fixture. This fix will cure most temperature balance problems. The single lever system is a EZ care system. Note the canister can malfunction faster when exposed to untreated hard water.

No cold water, Only hot water in showers.

The plumbers screwed up when they installed your showers. There are two connections on each shower. one for hot and one for cold. they connected the two hot water lines together with a T fitting and then ran a line to the main hot water line and tied it in. Then they connected the two cold water fittings with a T and ran that line to the main hot water line and tied it in there instead of into a cold water line like they were suppose to. This is the only possible logical solution to this problem. They tied your cold water connections to both showers into a hot water line instead of a cold water line.
