Our pipes (seems mainly in the kitchen) rattle fiercly when the outside tap (which is right outside the window from the kitchen!) when the outside tap is turned more than 1/4 turn (approximately). It does seem to be just in the kitchen area. And if I open any other tap in the house (full or part) there is no rattling. It's just the outside tap... I suspected air in the system, but have gone through the whole house opening taps one at a time (making sure I run water out both the cold and hot). I started this in the basement and worked up to the second floor. I've also flushed all the toilets. I haven't done any plumbing in the past 4 or 5 months. A friend told me there have been problems like this caused by temperature control systems. The outside tap is the farthest outlet from the upstairs shower that has the temperature control. I have a Moen Model 3371 temperature control in my shower. This system was put in three years ago (June 2008) I don't know if there is any information on this system that might help adjust it, or trouble shoot a part that is needed? Another place I suspect may be a problem is at the outside tap. There is a small water leak at the outside tap. It doesn't seem all that serious and I've had leaks like that before without any problem. Over the past 4 months we've had a periodic small leak from the washing machine. It appears to be a seal at the shaft. We will be replacing the machine in the next few months.I would think if this was the cause it would affect other taps??

Hi.the only thing i can think of that would only affect one tap is a faulty non-return valve.an outside tap should have a non return valve fitted anyway.it is a basic one-way valve. if it sticks, the valve may open suddenly, and then close rapidly as the pressure drops slightly in the plumbing. this sudden opening and closing, with the resulting rise and fall in water pressure in the pipes could well cause the pipes to rattle.the valve could be built into the tap, or into an isolator tap for the outside pipe.it could also just be a 2" long (approx) fitting on the pipe leading to the outside.i do not think the shower or the other minor leaks would be the cause.i think you are correct in believing it would affect the other taps.hope this helps.please feel free toask if you need more advice.

Two SM120X not always compatible on same circuit.

I would pose this question directly to the manufacturer. I'm kind of surprised that the AHJ would approve such a configuration to begin with, as I would not have thought such interconnection would meet the intent of the code for notification, but then I don't know all the circumstances. I would ask Kidde directly.

My first alert smoke detector went off at midnight last night. It is doing the three beeps, pausing and then another three beeps. This happened for about 3 minutes, stopped and then started again repeating this for about 6 minutes. It started up again after about 5 minutes. It repeated this process for close to 15 or 20 minutes. I had to turn off the breaker and remove the batteries to get it to stop. I checked the house and no smoke/fire was present. I did not see a model number on the detector. This was installed during a remodel job, and I did not receive any literature on the alarms. I have three of them in the house. It seemed at first only the master bedroom alarm sounded, but by the end all of the alarms were going off. Any ideas?

Change brand new battery, every three months.Take some rubbing achahol clean the test button metal contact inside the detector.Well works correctly after these steps.

I can't find the source of a chirping sound in my house (in or around the kitchen). It chirps once every 37 seconds and sounds like a smoke detector when the batteries get low. But it isn't my smoke detectors, I temporarily removed them to isolate the problem and the chirping remains. I also turned all power off in the house and the chirping remains. I have a new Frontpoint wireless alarm. I thought it may be related to that but the alarm company says their equipment dosen't make that sound. When I think I have it narrowed down to one corner of the kitchen I'll walk over there to investigate and then the sound comes from a different corner of the kitchen. Driving me crazy!!!

Hi Gang, I'm a late-comer to this forum, but I am having this exact same problem. About every 10-15 minutes, and for 33-34 seconds(very consistent) and about 9 times, I get a chirp over my bar in the tv room. We do not have smoke detectors. Its driving us nuts. This started around the time we had a "smart electric meter" installed. I wonder if any of you figured this out?

Vector Sec says they got low batt signal from my home system

Could possibly be a mixup with another account. alarms send signals to a receiver with a 4 digit code that is inputted by the installer. If a technician puts in a new system with your 4 digit code by mistake or typo then the monitoring center thinks it is from you. These mistakes are caught immediately if the technician verifies his signals. put your system on test and verify with your monitoring station your alarm signals. If you keep getting eroneous calls then call your service company to change your account number.
