How to best use Stanley Mirror Mastic?

I am installing a 4ft X 6ft bathroom mirror on a 1/4 inch thick equally sized sheet of plywood already installed on the bathroom wall. I'm using a L bracket bracket on the bottom for support and planning to use Stanly Mirror Mastic on the back of the mirror. After the mirror is installed, a ''picture'' frame will be installed on top of the mirror/plywood backer board. I am uncertain about how to use the Mastic as I have never used it before. What is the best way to use the Mastic? Do I have to use clips at the top of the mirror or will the mastic hold it to the wall? Jerry

How to best use Stanley Mirror Mastic?

Make sure the wall where the mirror is going to be, is perfectly flat. if you are going to install the 4x6 ft mirror. you need minimum of 3/8" board, if not 1/2". yu use mastic the same way you use caulking. on the safety side, I recommend you install upper and lower railing. the mastic will hold the mirror, three glop on each side and enough in the body of the mirror. press on hard, but too hard you will break the mirror the mastic will take about a week to cure completely.

A contractor used mirror mastic to install mirrors into a wooden frame in my bathroom, after about a month circles and lines starting showing through the mirror. He thinks the mastic came through the mirror, is there any way to clean the mirror, or will they have to be broken and reinstalled.

I would get him to replace the mirrors and check that the mastic used is truly compatable for what he used it for.

I had mirrors installed in wooden frames using mirror mastic and about a month later circles and lines appeared in the mirror and I can't get rid of them, is there any product that will help or do I have to have them broken and reinstalled

I would say the latter, it sounds as thought the fixing mastic has attacked the silvering at the back of the mirror.

What are some of the best techniques for Asian cooking that you have read?

This is simple, yet we often fail to remember! Squeezing some fresh lime onto spicy meat dishes will help balance out the heat and make the spice easier to handle. Only add lime juice after or right before you take something off the heat; cooking the juice will dull the flavor and defeat the purpose.

How to Change White Water Whirlpool Tub Jet Hardware

First step is to remove the old hardware so you have something to compare it to. THere are two types/sizes of tub faucets on the market for deck mounted applications. If yours is mounted on the tub deck then it is a deck mounted application. The faucet spread (distance between the threaded nipples on the bottom of the faucet) is going to be something close to 8" or it will be of variable distance. If the two handles and the spout are connected via hose then they are of variable length. Bring the old faucet into the hardware store and compare it so you know you are getting the correct one. It is not hard but also not fun to have to adjust the holes in the tub deck to accommodate a different size. AS for the suction.....I am assuming that you are referring to the inlet part o the pumping system and all of the equipment behind the tub. I always recommend that you use parts from the same manufacturer. It is extremely helpful to call them with all of the numbers you have to get a list of acceptable replacement parts. Hope this helps.

Mirror glued to wall

That's actually a pretty common method for professionally installing bathroom mirrors. As you mentioned, tape a star pattern on the mirror and then use a thin piece of piano type wire to slice through the adhesive. Keep the ends of the wire as close to the wall as possible while cutting so that you don't break the mirror. A local glass company can provide the best type of wire for the job as well as tips on the best way to get the job done - particularly if you imply that you'llbe buying your new miror from them. Be sure to wear leather palmed gloves and eye protection when doing this job!
