My 20-year-old toilet with a 1-year-old anti-siphon valve which worked fine, now has a problem. After flushing, as soon as the tank begins to fill, it stops, starts, stops, starts, stops, starts over and over until the tank is finally full. Once it's full, it shuts off and stays off until the next flush. We're on naturally soft city water, and I don't think sediment could be clogging anything.

Sounds like the valve in it has gone bad. I am not as familiar with this particular part.

I think our Toto toilet has a G Max valve in it and it doesn't shut off when the tank is full. The flapper seals fine and the water just runs over the overflow tube. Where can I get a diagram of the valve and does it come apart? Is there a simple fix? Dan

If the G-Max valve is not shutting off, just pop a new assembly cap on it. They are about $2.50 at Lowes.Even a homeowner can replace the part without tools in less then a minute.

Valve to stop water from running

IF YOU HAVE A FLUIDMASTER BALLCOCK,AND IF THE WATER IS CONTINUING TO RUN ,YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE WATER LEVEL,MOST OS THE TIME ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS OPEN THE TANK LID AND ON THE LEFT SIDE YOU'LL SEE THE BALLCOCK,AT THE TOP IT MIGHT HAVE A BLACK PIECE THAT YOU CAN SLIDE UP AND DOWN TO ADJUST THE WATER LEVEL,OR SOME HAVE A PIECE THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU CAN USE A PHILLIPS HEADS SCREWDRIVER,ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TURN IT A HALF OF TURN EACH TIME UNTIL THE WATER STOPS GOING INTO THE OVERFLOW TUBE ,WHICH IS USUALLY LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF THE TANK AND IT WILLBE 1INCH ROUND ,IT ALSO WILL HAVE YOUR FLAPPER OR BALL CONNECTER TO IT.

My Toto Carlyle water fill process does not shut off. The water tube from the Power Gravity anti siphon continues to run and does not shut off even though the tank is full. The flapper valve functions normally and water does not flow into the bowl. Thank you

The float valve seal is most likely not sealing. You will require a new fill valve and flaot assembly. Thanks

The shut off valve for the water supply to the toilet failed. I attempted to shut it off because the flush valve assembly in the tank failed. The water shut off to the toilet that is in the basement is really old and not turning. I had to shut off the main valve to the whole house. It seems the flush valve assembly should be pretty easy to replace but what about the valve for the water supply to the toilet? Is that a job for a plumber or could I attempt it?

You can buy valves and fittings at Home Depot and other repair stores that do not require any torching. They only require tightening. Measure the widths of the lines going into and out of the valve and go to the store and tell them that you want a compression fitting valve with the appropriate dimensions. Good luck!

Overflow tube have replaced fill valve and flapper. done dye test and no water from tank to bowl. fill valve will not shut off no matter how it's adjusted. tried two of them. no water from tank to toilet, not overflowing overflow valve but leaking out somewhere??? and tank doesn't empty over night when water shut off. what...is....happening?

If you manually pull up on the float of the fill valve will it then shut off? If it does, most likely your water pressure is too high, should be around 60 psi. More then 80 and it won't shut off. You may need to add a restrictor to the fill valve. Most fluid-master units come with one already installed, you could try one of them.

Water keeps running, toilet not shutting off totally, tank will fill then we have to pull up float and hold it a while to stop water, doesn't overflow, just keeps running, doesn't shut off completely, need check valve or fill valve or flow valve or seat valve, found some numbers, tank 1167.10 and k3400TB, lid 8919 13 K4546 date 5-13-75

Hi snowjobs847... Try resetting your float level to a lower water level in the tank, the extra pressure put on the seal may make it reseal. If the above did not work: You need to replace your "ballcock"...the ballcock (inlet valve) is non-repairable, has to be replaced with a new one if you cannot get it to stop leaking.
