Toilet pan installation procedure

Hi muller2012, I'm Harvey the Master Plumber. Your question is: the procedure to join pan to waste pipe without leaking. do i silicone around rubber seal? In 30 years this is the first time I've heard of a toilet "pan". If you're refering to the bowl, it connects with a wax ring and a pair of bolts. You then caulk around where the bowl meets the floor to keep cleaning liquids from getting under and getting stinky. If this is not a standard toilet it would be a good idea to post pictures and give make and model. Installation of lid seal - Saniflo SaniPlus-Round SaniPlus Macerator Toilet with Round Bowl

Typically the lid seal has an opening all around the center and it must face up and fit inside the lid, once is fitted inside the lid cover, lubricate the bottom of the lid seal with soapy water and place it on top of the pump casing. Then apply pressure at the side tabs to snap the lid back in place, note that you may have to use a big C-Clamp to be able to put the lid back on.

Previously when the toilet was flushed the motor would come on continuously to clear the pan, now it comes on and goes off 3 times for each flush. The pan empties alright I was just wondering if there was something wrong to make it come on intermittently instead of continuously.

Sounds like the full censor is faulty, give it a good clean out may help, it dont take very much to clog up this censor

Hi. I have a saniflow macerator,it's servicing just the toilet. I installed it about 9 months ago. I have had no problems untill this morning. It is making a clunking noise, the pump is working as normal, no foreign objects have entered the system. The noise sounds like a loose blade, or float clunking, any ideas. Regards Neil.

Hi Neil,The pump is activated by a pressure switch inside the unit and would not normally make any noise, so probably can rule that one out! From the manual on the saniflo it would suggest either a foreign object in the unit, a defective motor or control unit. It may be that you are unlucky and have a loose macerator blade that needs to be tightened (and loctite applied).I would double check that the clunking is definitely coming from inside the unit and not a pipe or something else moving (the water pushing the 90 degree rubber discharge tends to move and can create movement around it). When you are sure, it will be the not so nice job of opening up the unit:FIRST .. RUN THROUGH CLEAN WATER (will make sense later!)- *** DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY ***- Empty the Cistern, bowl and disconnect the inlet pipes to the WC- remove the WC and cistern- being very careful, disconnect the outlet (some have non return valves, some don't, so you may get some sludge coming back down the pipe). Hopefully none if you pushed enough clean water through initiallyget unit out and wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from getting germs in cuts etc. Normally need a star driver and flat blade screwdriverIf it is the macerator blade it should be clear that it is loose and could be tightened up. It could be play in the motor which unfortunately would mean a new unit - to test, gently pull up on macerator blade and feel for movement vertically.also check for any foreign objects etc. While it is out you may as well clean it out - I normally do this outside by putting warm bleached water into the unit for around 30mins, swishing it about and then emptying down a drain (cover up the mains cables in a plastic food bag first!). I also sometimes use a hose pipe to really get into all of the nooks.Good luck with the fix, if this helps pls leave feedback, if not let me know and I'll try and help some moreCheers

The SaniPlus toilet was just installed in my basement about a month ago. The water and waste will not go down. The motor continually runs, but the water level does not go down. Could it be blocked or is this a motor problem?

There could be a blockage somewhere in the drain pipe or inside the pump casing not allowing the waste to be pumped out. Refer to the installation manual/technical data manual and take a look at the schematic diagram for the Saniplus, It will show every component inside the pump casing, the short discharge pipe (# 7c) and long elbow (# 8) may be split open or not attached properly and waste water is just cycling inside the pump casing and not pumping out.

I have a saniflo toilet installed in my attic. The pipe runs accross under the roof and is connected to the sewerage pipe for the bathroom on the first floor. What toilet paper should I - use -2-ply or 3-ply or what kind? (i.e. what kind of toilet paper should I not use)?

Any brand approved for septic should work well in the saniflow system, but the key is to use as little as reasonably possible and flush as you go. Big wads of any type will compromise the system.
