How to Remove Shower Head

Once you've purchased your new shower head the first step in replacing the head is to make sure your shower faucets are firmly turned off and then remove the old shower head. If you look at the existing shower head, you'll notice flat spots on what's called a pipe nipple at the base of the shower head where the head screws into the goose-neck pipe that sticks out of the wall. * Take an adjustable wrench and tighten the wrench onto the base of the shower head flat spots. * Turning counter-clockwise, loosen and remove the old shower head. * Clean the threads on the goose-neck of any debris such as old pipe compound or Teflon tape.

I have a single handle Delta shower faucet with only a trickle of water coming from the shower head pipe. I removed the parts from the valve housing and cleaned them. Put the all back and still have no water flow. There is a lot of water flow from the valve housing when pipes were flushed. Valve installed. No flow.

Check the placement of the valve,, it may be 180 degrees out,, also,, try it with the shower head off, it may be clogged

Hi. We have a Danze "UPC" single-handle shower faucet. Our shower head is dripping, and when I removed the faucet cover plate, and screwed in (what I assume are) the cutoff values on the left and right of the faucet, the dripping stops. This means, I think?, that the faucet itself is causing the leak. I removed all the faucet hardware I could, and now I'm looking at a cylinder with notched gears at the end. I can't unscrew the cylinder, at least not by hand, and I'm not even sure if I should, but I assume that I would need to in order to fix the problem. My questions are: Should I use a wrench to loosen and remove that cylinder? Is this a washerless faucet and, if so, what part(s) would I need to replace to fix the drip? Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!

It's likely a cartridge faucet and that cartridge usually pulls straight out, and is replaced as a unit. you're close to the finish line, but may have more work to get that cartridge out. some of them have special pullers.

I just installed my Delta Multichoice Valve Trim 13/14. And do not get enough water on my shower head. Actually I am going to use only the shower head not the tub. I removed the head and replaced it but still same problem. When I removed the head I also checked the water flows very good. What leads me I may doing something wrong. Any special tip for this?

If you look inside the shower head from the back where the threads are you can see a flow restrictor, if you take it out you get a lot better flow.

Hi. I have a new house - 1 yr old - on a well w/pressure tank. I have removed all water saver devices from all faucets and shower heads. I have good pressure now in all facets and showers except for master bath shower. There is just a slow stream of water. . . so slow there is a bend or arc in the water stream. I am using a 'Millenium brass' single handle faucet - not a handle, just a knob. My question is: how do I get into the knob and take out the water saver and where is it inside the wall? I also need to locate the temperature setting mechanism to reset it. The water is either cold or hot - never warm. Thanks for your help.

I would be inclined to leave it alone and concentrate on fitting a inline pump into the outlet from the tank thats turns on with a pressure drop on the outlet side of the pump .a lot easier to do and a instant cure to your problem .

Water is leaking from the shower head = about every 30 seconds water seems to build up and then blups out of showerhead. when showerhead is removed, water drips slowly from pipe. Changing showerhead settings causes dripping to change frequency/amount. This is a 5-year old Delta single-handle shower system.

The shower valve is leaking and filling the shower spout

Hot water pressure is weak. Shower head isn't clogged. Cold water pressure is good. How do I increase the hot water pressure?

Is the hot water pressure good at other fixtures in the house? I'm guessing your newer valves have a scolding adjustment that is set very low. Check the instructions that came with the valve assembly.
