Suggested Questions And Answer :

We lost water flow to our bath tub faucet and associated shower head recently. I took off the shower head to confirm that the filter wasn't blocking flow there. We then had a plumbing company come out and take a look and they believed the issue to be with our Delta water mixer cartridge as there was a build up of sediment on the intakes and they could not clean it enough. I was able to track down a replacement cartridge but still nothing coming through. I then returned that in case the new cartridge was faulty. Still nothing. I turned the water back off, took out the cartridge completely and turned the water back on. Water comes gushing out of there into the bathtub so there is 100% no problem with water getting to the bathtub. If in theory the cartridge is working then after the handle is turned on it should then be pushing the water into the opening that goes into the copper pipe going to the faucet and shower head. These are new copper pipes which were put in within the last two years so it is impossible for there to be any kind of buildup on the pipe (sediment would not have been able to pass through Delta cartridge anyway). Water is not leaking as I can see the plumbing in the closet behind the tub. Drywall had been ripped out when plumbing work was done two years ago and not replaced. If the pressure was causing the water to get displaced anywhere else I would see it back there, but it is dry as a bone. Is it possible that all three cartridges (original plus two replacements) are all faulty? I have proven that water is getting to the point where the cartridge is installed but not getting beyond the cartridge. Is there something else I am missing? Installation of cartridge is cut and dry. It will only go in one way. I don't even have the whole assembly on while testing so I can leave the adjustment screw off and just using Vice-Grip to allow me to turn handle the whole way. Help !!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking that the cartridge may not be turning with the handle. After attempting to turn the faucet on a few times, see if the teeth on it are worn.

Single handle tub faucet will not divert to shower head. Tub faucet just sputters water all over, only a dribble comes out of shower head. I took shower head off, but water will still not divert to shower pipe. It comes out for a second but then back to tub faucet. Not sure which Price Pfister model I have. Its a single handle, brushed stainless.

The diverter on the tub spout is bad you need to replace the tub spout or the pull up diverter if its a separate piece if you have the owners manual with a parts diagram you can order it on line from the manufacturer or a plumbing supply store. you will need to unscrew the tub spoup from the wall to do this use a broom handle or something similar inserted inside the spout and turn it to the left to remove it from the wall

Delta T13090 faucet shower head working at the same time.

The only possible explaination is that the water is finding it easier to go up than down. Water is lazy, just like me. ;) Use an allen key to remove the tub spout. It's underneath and awkward. Once the allen key is loose, the spout just slides off. Try running the water. This may solve your problem and all you'll need is a new tub spout. If not..... Turn the water off to the house. Use an allen key to remove the handle. Use a phillips to remove the trim plate (2 screws). Cut the silicone around the trim if it's there (which, in a proper installation it shouldn't be, but...) Unscrew the nut (usually chrome) holding the cartridge into the brass body of the valve. The cartridge pulls straight out. Check for restriction in the ports of the cartridge itself. Check for restriction in the line going down to the tub spout. If you can't find anything, replace the cartridge. Reassemble & Enjoy!

Check the tub faucet the pull lever maybe slightly faulty causing back pressure in line and pushing water up to shower head --u may have debris in tub line causing partial blockage -or u have alot of water pressure coming in and it is to much for the lines to handle and it is pushing up to shower head

I'm not sure what brands my faucet or handles are.

You can remove the center (Diverter valve) without turning water off, Will need deep well socket. Check the o rings and or washers and replace or take valve to Home depot to match with new. If you can't find one there go to local plumbing supply or ace. I turn hot then cold on and off real Quick while the valve is out just to clear anything that might be in lines. stand to the side or you will get wet! You might want to get new hot and cold valves while your at it just make sure to turn off water at meter before you remove them.

Plumbing remodeled bathroom, installed new moen valve and hardware. Now water is coming from both the shower head and the faucet when the diverter is in the down postion.

Hi rbyerly, I'm Harvey the Master Plumber. Your problem is: remodeled bathroom, installed new moen valve and hardware. Now water is coming from both the shower head and the faucet when the diverter is in the down postion. Question; Is this a single handle or three handle diverter? Assuming it's a three handle, it should just be a mater of adjusting the center handle. If single, the diverter is in the spout not the valve. I don't know how to direct you further without specifics. Feel free contact me again! Please give me a rating here at fixya.com before you sign offThank you,Harvey your Master Plumber

When turning the diverter valve to the shower head; the water comes out both the shower head and the faucet. I've replaced the valve seat and have replaced the complete valve assembly and it still comes out both.

Turn the water off to the house and try taking out the center handle. There will be a rubber or brass washer you need to replace.
